Not Just Enterprises (I.W.) Ltd. is a charity that trains people with a mental health illness. It exists to help people living on the Isle of Wight.

Not Just Enterprises is designed to help people who, in normal circumstances find open employment difficult to obtain, and for whom full-time work is stressful. Many benefits occur with participation in the various projects, which are:

  • motivation which has not existed previously leading to
  • a growing sense of confidence
  • basic skills such as communication, social skills, punctuality and attention to hygiene are re-established.

The project aims to help people become more independent and have greater control over their lives. This is achieved by offering a range of employment opportunities which are worthwhile to the community, and offer a high level of job satisfaction to those taking part.

The project runs in three areas; catering, gardening and the administration of the project. The project isn’t meant to train people to be gardeners, caterers or administrators. These areas are to help build confidence and general skills for work.

Our training will lead, where possible, to service users finding voluntary or paid employment and the perception of mental illness by society is improved by our links with the community.

Support is given to enable clients to train for qualification through external organisations.
